Our Story

Thank God for He is always ready to bless us and to enable us to grow in Christ.

Our Beginning

Herald Bible-Presbyterian Church started when 11 persons gathered for prayer at an apartment in Neptune Court, Marine Parade Road, on 3 December 2003. The need to gather for worship was felt by more, and 20 people gathered for the first fellowship meeting in the same apartment on Sunday, 7 December 2003. Soon, the apartment could not contain many more who heard of the good news of God’s blessings on the group. By God’s grace, permission was granted for the use of the function room at Neptune Court. When we commemorated Christ’s birth that Christmas, more than 70 people had joined us for the Christmas Service. We also had our first Watch-night Service on 31 December. Indeed, it was meaningful to conclude the year with God promising us with more blessings in the new year of 2004.

Soon, individuals and families requested for regular prayer and Bible Study meetings to be held in their homes. English and Mandarin-speaking believers came together because they rejoiced when they heard the news of starting a new church. As we prayed, we saw the Lord’s guidance and provision in so many ways. God provided the hearts, the place, and He supplied all that we needed for our new church.

It was at Christmas when we remembered how the angels heralded the good news of Christ’s birth. We wanted our church to always be involved in the announcing of the good news of Christ to others.

The first Pro-tem Committee prayed for God’s guidance for the name of the new church. After considering a few suggestions, everyone was pleased with the name ‘Herald’. It was at Christmas when we remembered how the angels heralded the good news of Christ’s birth. We wanted our church to always be involved in the announcing of the good news of Christ to others. To those who were part of the beginning of the new church, God’s gift of Herald will always be good news.
