Make a Joyful Noise!
The phrase “make a joyful noise” is used several times in the book of Psalms. It is associated with singing and making music. Psalms 81:1 says “sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob”. Psalms 95:2 says “O, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto His with psalms.”
Though some may prefer to make a “loud noise”, we are also encouraged to “rejoice, and sing praise” in Psalms 98:4. The Psalmist also mentioned that the people of God assembled to “sing unto the Lord with the harp… and the voice of a psalm. They also made a joyful noise of God with trumpets and cornets.
We thank God that we can all lift our voices to praise Him every time we gather for worship. We thank God for pianists who provide music accompaniment. Sometimes, we also have the guitar.
