Remember Thy Creator In Thy Youth

I would like to thank God for showering His many blessings upone the Herald Youth Fellowship (HYF). The HYF has had humble beginnings, starting as a small group of 5-7 members in 2004, but it has been growing ever since. With a larger group of young people, it was then decided that a commitee should be set up to plan for the weekly YF meetings and other activities in a more organized manner.

With the guidance of Pastor Bob Phee, six members of the YF were elected into the YF’s first commitee in July 2008, with Dominic Wan as the President and Bethanie Wong as Vice-President. Today, we have more than 20 regular members attending the YF meetings every Saturday afternoon. Besides our weekly meetings, we have many other activities which include outings, volunteer activities, fundraisers and annual retreats. All these were made possible by God’s grace.

God has also been very good to me during my term as President in the YF Committee. Although I had many doubts about taking on the position in 2011, Pastor Bob and Dominic helped me to farmiliarize myself with the responsibilities of the role. This role has been very enriching, and has opened many opportunities for me to serve God. Though the three-year journey may not have always been smooth-sailing, it helps to know that the rest of the Committee is there to share the load and to pray for one another. God has always been there to guide the Committee whenever we planned or had to make decisions.

While the YF has indeed grown in strength, I hope to see more YFers stepping up to serve God with their talents. Regardless of your capabilities, you just need to believe that through God all things are possible. I thank God again for blessing the HYF and pray that we will continue to grow as a close-knit family.
