We thank God that the missioners whom Herald has been supporting in the past 15 years were able to join us at our Missions Conference on Saturday, 23 February 2019 (held as part of Herald’s 15th Anniversary). We are pilgrims traveling on the road of life, needing God’s mercies to keep us and help us all along the way. John Bunyan (1628-1688) wrote a classic Christian allegory on this, called The Pilgrim’s Progress, describing the trials and triumphs of a protagonist named Christian as he traveled from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. His journey took him through the Slough of Despond, the House of Mr Legality, and the Valley of Humiliation, where he fought valiantly with Apollyon. However, he was captured at Vanity Fair and was later imprisoned by Despair in Doubting Castle. Herald Bible-Presbyterian Church is 15 years old. She is now in her mid-teens. We are no longer in our childhood, but neither are we in full adulthood. Prayer is one of the deepest joys of the Christian life. It is almost too good to be true that in Jesus we have the very ear of God. What an indescribable gift, that the God whose greatness is beyond comprehension actually stops to listen to us, and is even more ready to hear us than we are to speak.
