Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Responding to the Word of God
The Parable of the Sower and the Seeds
Matthew 13:1-13
How are you responding to God’s Word?
Jesus is most concerned for those who follow Him. He gave a parable to explain the four responses to His teaching. These responses are related to His audience in His day more than two thousand years ago as well as it is to us today. Continue reading “The Herald Weekly Vol XVII : 20”

Nothing Happens By Coincidence
Two Christian brothers met with a motor accident, but it was not without a purpose. The MPV skidded on an icy road last winter, spun several times, tumbled off the tar road, and turned a few times on a slope before coming to a stop. The Doctrine of Christ’s Ascension to Heaven
Last week, we commemorated the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. But Christ’s redemptive work would not be complete without His ascension into heaven. Luke the physician, and writer of the Gospel according to Luke, and the Acts of the Apostles, was careful in recording for us the bodily appearances of the risen Christ to men for 40 days between His resurrection and His ascension. Luke 24:50-51 records, “And He led them out as far as to Bethany, and He lifted up His hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.” This was very clearly confirmed in Acts chapter 1, on Mount of Olives (vs 12), how when Jesus was speaking to His disciples, “… while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of sight” (vs 9). This record from the Scriptures shows that Jesus’ ascension was a literal, bodily return to heaven. He rose from the mount gradually and visibly, witnessed by many intent observers. Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die,
it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

What is Passion Week?
The Passion Week is referred to the time from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday. The whole week is so named because of the passion with which Jesus willingly went to the cross in order to pay for the sins of His people. Passion Week is recorded in Matthew 21-27, Mark 11-15, Luke 19-23 and John 12-19. This special week begins with Jesus’s triumphal entry on Palm Sunday on the back of a colt as prophesied by Zechariah 9:9. Continue reading “The Herald Weekly Vol XVII : 15”
